Hangbo Han vs United Airlines

Mr. Han is suing United because they issue miles for flights by calculating the distance, in a straight line, from origin to destination.  He thinks that if the flight is routed around a storm and the flight goes 63 miles out of its way to avoid potential problems he should be awarded those miles as well.

This is a link to the actual court documents http://crankyflier.com/files/MPLawsuit.pdf

This is why there are 22 paragraphs of legalese on the back of a coupon for $0.05 off your favorite shampoo…  People like Han

Keene vs Brint Construction Company

Ridiculous!  The Keene’s are suing Brint Construction Company for a cargo elevator “operator error” incident.

The Keenes contracted EasyLift Cargo to install a cargo elevator in their beach house.  They didn’t contract through Brint Construction, they contracted directly between themselves and EasyLift.

The choice to sue Brint was because that company is located in a very liberal county where damages for claims are handed out like flyers in a Walmart parking lot.

Later EasyLift was added to the suit, but the case should have been filed in EasyLift’s county of residence (which come to find out is in a very conservative district).

Opinion – disgusted with the legal system.  Brint is going to have to defend itself against a couple that are clearly out to fraud the system.

Facebook bikini photo

This should be a warning to all social media users.  Social media sites are like walking around in public.  Anyone at any time could snap a photo of you doing something embarrassing…like picking your nose.  Take, for example, the popular site http://www.peopleofwalmart.com .  Customers of all walks of life get their picture taken, unbeknownst to them, every day and posted on the site.

Social media cuts out the “middle-man”.  Your are putting your self out in public with every post.  You are exposing yourself with NO protection.

If the picture was used in an Ohio school district presentation, Ms. Chaney would have never known.  Unfortunately, the picture was recognized as a former student and someone told her.  The only reason she is suing is because she is embarrassed that she posted a bikini shot, she probably got yelled at by her parent/s, and a friend of her’s (that stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night) told her she had a case and could get money.

Bevivino vs Virgin America

Mr. Bevivino starts his Virgin America flight by arguing with the flight attendants about how he should order a drink.  The airline apparently uses a touch screen order system on the seat-back in front of the passenger for the passenger to place food and drink orders on.

After the flight attendant instructs Bevivino how to place his drink order he gets belligerent with the employee and uses profanities.  However, later in the flight Bevivino orders a meal using the method he was to use for ordering his drink.

Finally, Bevivino uses the lavatory and defecates in the toilet, but does not flush.  Instead he comes out of the bathroom smiling and cursing at the flight attendants.

When the flight lands Bevivino is questioned by the pilot, then the police, and the FBI about his actions on the flight.

Bevivino is suing for 1/2 million dollars for false imprisonment and racial discrimination.

Here is another case of how our legal system is broken.  Virgin employees have to deal with a complete A$$ and then the company gets sued.  How could he have a case?  How could we let this go to litigation?  Unfortunately it is going to court and Virgin is going to have to spend money defending itself,  Want to know where they get the money to defend their case against this guy?  You guessed it…me and you with higher ticket prices, insurance premiums, and legal representative retention fees.
